Wi-Fi hurting trees and shrubs, says Netherlands research

PC World reports the radiation emitted by Wi-Fi networks is damaging trees and shrubs. According to Wageningen University within the Netherlands, Wi-Fi radiation is a definite contributor to alterations in tree development, as well as bleeding and fissures within the bark. To quote the study, "all deciduous trees in the Western world are affected" by Wi-Fi radiation. Article resource – Wi-Fi signals are damaging trees, says Netherlands study by Personal Money Store.

Blaming something other than the bacteria and viruses for issues the Wi-Fi study found

The five-year Wageningen University Wi-Fi research focused on trees and shrubs within the Netherlands city of Alphen aan den Rijn. In cities, there were trees and shrubs that now show symptoms from the Wi-Fi electromagnetic radiation while some of trees showed problems since the research first began. About 10 percent showed it at the beginning of the research while the other 70 show it now.

Because of the overall production of radiation from satellite equipment and Wi-Fi on trucks and vehicles with radio along with all the mobile phone networks, the trees were hurt while the ultra-fine particles emitted by Wi-Fi signals were studied by Wageningen also. What is happening according to some scientists is the ultra-fine particles are really, really small. Trees and shrubs and other organisms will allow the small particles to enter. There is also a concern for other plants, animals and human beings. There has not been a definite research published on the effect on human beings yet although lots of evidence would suggest the human cells react negatively to the radiation.

Does Wi-Fi cost far too much?

The USDA forest Service explains how significant trees are to the environment. Wi-Fi may be an essential platform for commercial and personal communication, but if trees begin to die in large numbers, here’s what the world will miss:

  • No trees to absorb pollutants from the air.
  • Trees typically increase property value. This would not take place anymore.
  • Neighborhood and business appeal would no longer be there.
  • No trees to cool cities.
  • No trees and shrubs to afford the $250 average annual savings U.S. households that depend on tree shade enjoy.
  • United States of America would not conserve millions anymore with trees reducing pollutants within the water supply without trees.
  • Animals wouldn't have trees and shrubs to live in anymore.

Levy litigation concludes with Guandique responsible verdict

The Chandra Levy case has seemingly been closed with the sentence of Guandique. Guandique, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, was determined guilty after the jury deliberated for four days. Some oddities within the proof lead some to think Guandique was put in place as a patsy.

Convicting Ingmar Guandique for murdering Chandra Levy

After years of the case going unsolved, Guandique was found guilty after the litigation over the Chandra Levy homicide, according to MSNBC. Levy was an intern in Washington, D.C., and was allegedly having an affair with then-Congressman Gary Condit. Ingmar Guandique is already serving a 10-year sentence for attacks on two women in Rock Creek Park in Washington, D.C., from 2001. It was 2001, a year after Levy was reported missing, that her remains were found in Rock Creek Park. Guandique was only tried because of the testimony his cell mate gave. Evidently he admitted to killing her, but didn't say other things about it. However, the murder trial remains controversial, as many believe Guandique has been made a scapegoat.

The evidence brought to the table

The defense for Guandique, an illegal immigrant, argued that Gary Condit has always acted suspiciously concerning the court case and had taken the Fifth Amendment at trial. The Fifth Amendment could be taken by witnesses so as to keep away from incriminating themselves. Condit did this. The Washington Post explains that you will find also some concerns with the physical proof pointed out by the defense. Guandique ever coming into contact with Levy can't even be proven through physical proof. A homicide weapons was never discovered by any person. Also, the DNA on Levy's running tights did not match Condit or Guandique's DNA. According to the prosecution, it is very possible that the DNA accidently was mixed with DNA from others because it was handled improperly. No tests were done to confirm this though.

High profile court case ends sour

It seems very possible that Guandique might be guilty within the Levy court case thinking about his prior crimes although there are inconsistencies in proof. Maybe Chandra would appreciate the justice if she were still here.

Alaska Senate election won by Murkowski

Lisa Murkowski has won a uncommon write-in victory in the Alaska U.S. Senate race. The suit that Miller filed might result in being a waste of time. Murkowski has a clear lead of over two thousand ballots. Seems like that she will retain her seat within the Senate.

Historical victory for Lisa Murkowski

You will find some ballots in the Alaska Senate election that haven't been counted yet. Even so, the Los Angeles Times explains that Lisa Murkowski is the clear winner. Even though the Joe Miller Campaign promised to let go if Murkowski won the majority of the Alaska vote, he is still fighting for a win. Miller has already filed a federal lawsuit disputing about 8,000 ballots, and especially interpretations of those ballots. However, the lawsuit may be a moot point, as Murkowski has a lead of nearly 10,000 votes. All of the votes contested being thrown out would not help Miller as any lead by Murkowski would lead to her winning.

Tea Party ‘refudiated’ in Palin’s home state

As of this morning, Murkowski had a lead of at least 2,000 votes, not counting the 8,000 contested ones. Miller may be hoping for a recount. Until an official count is declared, he can't request one. Only a disqualified Murkowski would help Miller win. Seems like that even in Sarah Palin's home state, Alaska voters have "refudiated" a Sarah Palin candidate. The defeat of Joe Miller, heavily backed by the Tea Party Express and by Sarah Palin, is a high-profile slap within the face to the Tea Party and also to Palin, who feuded with Lisa Murkowski and her father, who was ousted by Palin within the Republican primary before the Alaska gubernatorial race in 2006. Palin didn't even finish her term. Half way via she left.

Win unexpected

Murkwoski made history with her write in win. The Senate election hasn't been won in the last 56 years by a write in candidate. The last candidate to implement it was Strom Thurmond in 1954. She might have to have the taking of her seat postponed for a bit with the requested recount and lawsuit.

Monetary training faces obstacle in standard tests

The concept of letting kids learn about individual finance the hard way might have been a contributing factor in the financial crisis, some say. For years, individuals in the United States have learned about cash on their own. This has led to individual hardship and detrimental effects to society at large. As the country regroups financially, a trend is emerging to set up individual financial and part of standard training curriculum.

The financial reform and personal finance

Legislators drafting the financial reform bill that became law in 2010 believed that financial literacy education could be a powerful compliment to financial regulation. The financial reform law contains the establishment of an Office of Financial Literacy. The intent of the Office of Financial Literacy is to educate students and consumers about financial education and money.

Financial literacy education is good PR

The private sector is recognizing the glaring need for financial literacy education as a PR opportunity. The program "My Money, My Future" started in over 300 high schools thanks to Genworth Financial. Earlier this year Visa, Inc. introduced “Financial Football,” a free online game that teaches children about money using personal financial decisions to influence the outcome of football action. American Express jumped on the education train also. They posted a site called "Currency" directed at younger adults to help them make wise financial decisions as well.

Not tested, not taught

When it comes to financial literacy education in schools, teachers have their work cut out for them, as outlined by Dan Kadlec at MoneyWatch. Kadlec attended a recent Financial Literacy National Educators Conference in Washington D.C. Teachers there told Kadlec that they have to focus on topics that are involved in standardized tests. Financial literacy is something that does not show up on the standardized tests given to student to evaluate teachers.

Transportation Security Administration pats down weeping three-year-old, attracts criticism

Airport security post-9/11 has been a tedious process for all involved, from passengers to screeners. It’s much slower, and some argue that it’s much more invasive. Based on Hot Air, when a Transportation Security Administration formal at a Chattanooga, Tenn., airport went above and beyond the call of duty during the inspection of an upset child, the need for better training became painfully clear. The Transportation Security Administration screener pats down the 3-year-old in a manner that clearly indicates a lack of sensitivity – and the whole thing was captured on cell phone video by the child’s father, who happens to be a Television news reporter. Source of article – TSA official pats down distraught 3-year-old girl by Personal Money Store.

TSA pats down following an outburst for a teddy bear takes place

3-year old Many Simon had a pat down by TSA when she threw a fit following her teddy bear was taken at scanner checkpoint. She is the daughter of Houston TV news reporter Steve Simon. A huge fit with sobbing was what Mandy did here. The TSA said she needed a pat down and hand scanner, or a "closer inspection," because of this. Whether Transportation Security Administration officials had severe reason to believe that Mandy Simon was an explosives mule for al-Qaeda is unclear; such things have occurred with children and the mentally impaired in Iraq. Even though passengers and airport staff don't like that these procedures happen, it is a requirement the United States Department of Homeland Security mandates.

Yet the video of the incident speaks for itself. As Hot Air suggests, perhaps Transportation Security Administration could have taken mom and dad aside for questioning, to see if an inspection was truly necessary.

Following in Israel's actions

It has been decades since Israel had a security breach in an airport. The TSA within the United States is not almost as subtle or comprehensive as their methods are. It isn't necessary to have random sampling like this the Wall Street Journal suggests. In fact, the right training for TSA screeners would make a huge different. Hot Air explained that "Mugging random 3-year-olds" is something that would no longer happen. It can be less traumatic if the child's fear or anger were redirected instead of searching the young child. Janet Napolitano and the TSA's images that are now really bad and might get better if there were proper training and proper attitudes with customer service.

sales space in between pickup truck sales and automobile sales expands

Oct auto income were outstanding for automakers. Nonetheless, there had been a broader gap in between vehicle sales and truck sales. The gap widening had been really kind of interesting. It would make sense that many people will be acquiring more economic cars during an economically down time. Pickup trucks, however, dramatically outsold vehicles.

More truck sales than car sales

It had been a good month for auto sales in Oct. They came out really good. The public stopped buying Toyota as a result of lawsuits and recalls which made it the only automaker to not post gains for the month. USA Today reports that 54 percent of new auto sales were from trucks too. If you bought a new pickup from Ford, there was zero-percent financing on auto loans while if you bought a Dodge Ram pickup you can get the "60-Day-Handshake" which meant you could return the truck in 60 days if you didn't like it. These incentives probably helped a lot. The figure includes pickups, but also automobiles that technically use a “truck” chassis. There were also included within the figure SUV's and minivans. Anything under the heading could go there.

The price of gas didn't make a difference

The majority are aware of fuel consumption. This is especially true of modern car buyers. There has been a boost in small cars and hybrids. This can be a fact. The sale of full size pickups hasn't stopped though. Gas is now more costly (around $2.80 per gallon) than it had been at the height of the truck and SUV craze (less than $2 per gallon). However, many of the purchases were for work automobiles, as many businesses have not been able to afford to replace older work trucks and vans due to a lack of available auto credit.

Getting all the trucks you need

Automakers love to sell trucks. The F 150 which will debut with a turbo-charged V6 soon is the best selling pickup in the truck and is made by Ford. There is a lot sold by GMC, Chevrolet and Dodge too. They aren't behind that much.

Chinese vase brings about impression after huge sale value

A Chinese vase recently marketed at auction in Britain has brought on a sensation. The vase is officially the most costly ever, selling for 53 million pounds, or around $85 million in American dollars. The vase had been in storage for decades, and it dates to the later 18th century.

In attic there was a Chinese vase

Based on the Telegraph, there was a woman and her son who had the vase left to them by her brother while they’re anonymous after selling it. The woman found the vase in her attic room after receiving it from her brother who got it from his uncle. The uncle went to china as an "adventurer" and returned with the vase. The vase just sat somewhere getting dusty. The woman then put it on her bookshelf. Eventually she had it appraised, and it was valued at around 800 pounds, or about $1,300 U.S. The woman was told that the vase was worth much more than that after she took it to the auction house Bainbridges. The vase was suspected to be from the royal collection of the Qianlong emperor of Hongli as it was from the Qing dynasty. It will go back to the 18th century in how old it is. It was probably fired in the imperial kilns as it has the royal seal in it.

Uncommon Chinese vase rumors fly

Everybody started talking about it. This led to an auction where there were a ton of Chinese collectors ready to buy the vase. It took a long time for the bidding to end. It was a 30 minute round of bidding. More than 53 million pounds or $85 million were paid for the vase within the end. It was bought by a Chinese industrialist who wasn't going to miss out on buying an uncommon Chinese vase following missing out on another one earlier this year, reports the Daily Mail. The gavel was shattered while the auctioneer, Peter Bainbridge, banged it so hard. It costs a lot to get uncommon Chinese porcelain. It is valuable to many.

Next we collect some taxes

The auction commission cost the family about 9 million pounds. Also, 12 million pounds had to be paid to taxes. The auctioneer doesn't typically deal with things more than 500 pounds which made this a great find.

Jobless claims lower somewhat, unlike unemployment level

Unemployment rate impervious to decline in jobless claims

Accentuating the good concerning United States of America Jobless claims is possible, dependent upon how you look at the statistics. Jobless states rose last week, however not as much as economists expected. Employment has been growing steadily as the number of individuals filing for joblessness insurance has held steady, but not enough to budge the 9.6 percent U.S. joblessness level.

The reason why the joblessness level won’t move

Just last week, there was a huge change in jobless claims, accounts the Labor Department. It went up 2,000 to 439,000. But the Associated Press reports that less than 440,000 individuals a week have filed for unemployment insurance in three of the past four weeks — the lowest numbers in two years. There was an average 4.2 percent decrease in the last month as the average number of jobless claims went lower 16,000 to a 443,000 a week average. According to AP, the trends are a signal that more individuals are getting hired than fired. Economists explain the unemployment rate will stay the very same unless jobless claims go below 425,000 a week.

The unemployed situations

Jobless claims come in by the thousands every single week. The week ending November 6, however, had 48,000 people stop collecting unemployment. They didn't have to get employed exactly. In the last week of October, 121,000 individuals moved to the federal joblessness expansion program after unemployment advantages expired. Meanwhile, up to 2 million people will lose benefits when the emergency extensions expire at the end of Nov. Advantages will be lost in the next few months by even more. Another 2 million are estimated to be in this group. Congress probably will not pass another federal joblessness extension. Those individuals could be out of luck.

Data fail to provide clearness

When Jobless claims drop, in theory really, this ought to mean the economic recovery is doing better, which is why economists keep track of weekly firings. There is no longer a relationship during this economic recovery though, Bloomberg accounts. Oct was the fourth month of more than 100,000 jobs being created since corporations added 159,000 jobs. You will find a ton of companies hiring. Most are lying off individuals though. Forty-two states and U.S. territories reported rising jobless claims, while 11 reported a decline. Just bear in mind the joblessness rate is staying the exact same. It won’t change from the 9.6 percent.

Enthusiasts impatiently wait for Harry Potter premiere

The star-studded "Harry Potter" premiere had been recently held in London ahead of the theatrical release. On Friday, the 1st part of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" can be released, and the second part can be released six months later. It is the end to the greatest accomplishment of a movie franchise ever.

It's the conclusion of Harry Potter, however merely the starting

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the Harry Potter movies, will be premiering soon. It’s going to be the beginning of the conclusion of it all. Putting all the "Harry Potter" films together has made them very successful. In fact, of all time, the films are the most successful franchise. The second and third place franchises are the “James Bond” and “Star Wars” franchises, respectively. These final 2 films are going to be really dark an intense. This happens since the series becomes darker throughout. The final showdown between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort will be the main point of the films. The 1st installment debuts in theaters on Friday, and the second premieres on July 15 in 2011.

Star studded London premiere

Prior to the release in theaters, there had been a premier on Thursday in London. Invited were cast, crew and other celebrities. Titanic amounts of buzz came about because of Emma Watson’s haircut. USA Today accounts that she cut her hair short after having to have it long for the character Hermione Granger. The short hair was surprising. Enthusiasts did not know what to say about it. Both Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe were at the London premiere as they played Ron Weasley and Harry Potter. It will at about the 10 year anniversary mark for the release of the first movie when the 2nd movie premiers.

Girl Talk All Day pushes the bounds of sampling

Pittsburgh-based DJ Girl Talk has launched his second album, “All Day”. The record is built out in excess of 373 samples and is meant to be listened to as one 71-minute piece. Girl Talk “All Day” is being launched totally free and will likely spark further discussion of the legitimacy of trying.

download Girl Talk 'All Day'

DJ and performer Girl Talk, Gregg Gillis off the stage, has launched his second album. In 2008, he released his first record while since then more than 40 tour dates a year have been scheduled. On the Illegal Art website, you can get a free download of "All Day". Girl Talk’s “All Day” is 71 minutes long, and though it’s split up into 12 tracks, it is meant as a single, long-listening piece. You will find 272 pieces of songs from different artists on the record. It has all the pieces put together.

Trying 'All Day' lawfully

You will find legal problems with trying the Girl Talk "All Day" record. Usually testing music is acceptable. Permission is required though. The "fair use" of music trying has been something the courts have had to work with considering permission is not always requested. If permission isn't obtained, then a sample as little as a "distinctive" three note riff is a right violation according to the most recent decision with Bridgeport Music Inc. v. Dimension Films.

The Creative Commons license on Girl Talk ‘All Day’

The Innovative Common permit is getting used increasingly more with the all-or-nothing copyright option being taken. Artists are allowed to "claim and release" with the copyrighting meaning that their work can be remixed and used for commercial purposes with their permission. Releasing the Girl Talk "All Day" record was ok because of a permit like this. A Creative Commons non-commercial permit is used here. As long as there are not any commercial reasons for the work getting used, it could be used by anyone. While Girl Talk might well benefit from the exposure this brings, there’s a query of whether all the artists included in the samples can be — or need to be — remunerated for their sampled work.

325 suppliers supporting arts in the Nutcracker Market 2010

It is the season of artistry and craft fairs, and the Nutcracker Market 2010 is among the largest. The four-day Nutcracker Market 2010 is hosted in the huge Reliant Center, and benefits the Houston Ballet. These days when arts' funding is difficult to find, activities such as the Nutcracker Market 2010 keep the arts in business.

What you should learn about the 2010 Nutcracker Market

The Nutcracker Market 2010 is being kept at the Reliant Center in Houston, Texas. In 1981, the fair was opened by former First Lady Barbara Bush. She will now open the 30th annual sale too. In the Nutcracker Market 2010, there will be a huge variety of venders to fill 325 slots. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., you are able to get into the fair on Saturday and Sunday. If you prefer to go Friday, the fair is open just a little longer form 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door or $11 if pre-purchased.

The Houston Ballet funds

More than 85,000 shoppers are expected to show up the Nutcracker Market 2010. This past year, the Nutcracker Market sold almost $14 million worth of merchandise and raised about $2.5 million to support the Houston Ballet and its assorted related organizations. The fourth largest ballet company in the nation is the Houston Ballet company. It only has a $20 million a year budget too. Fund-raising events like the Nutcracker Market 2010, endowments and ticket sales all go to the Houston Ballet to fund it.

Are funding issues

It is always hard to be a nonprofit art organization like the Houston Ballet. In general, performing arts organizations have a high fixed cost and limited audience, meaning that they’re difficult to fund at times. The economic recession has hit the arts and performing arts organizations hard. Budgets, events and performances have all had to be cut because of less donations being made. The arts organizations need to support themselves. Part of this is done mostly through fundraisers like the Nutcracker Market 2010. The Houston Ballet will only be able to get about 10 percent of its spending budget filled with the Nutcracker Market 2010 though. It will still be a challenge to fund the arts like this though.

Path provides a distinct route for private picture expressing

iPhone users can share photos with their friends with a new social network called Path. But when it comes to friends, Path goes against the grain of current social network convention by limiting users to just fifty of them. The fifty friend limit on Path is counter intuitive, however a social network built on a more human scale could catch on. Source for this article – Path, the new social network that draws the line on friendships by Personal Money Store.

iPhone expressing with fifty friends is one thing path limits

The Path iPhone app is a new social networking service that separates itself from a growing field of Facebook wannabes by permitting users to include no more than fifty friends in an account. It also works on privacy. It protects all Path iPhone posts. While heavyweights like Facebook and Twitter tell users the more buddies the better, Path is betting on a backlash from Facebook privateness issues associated with indiscriminate friending. Facebook and Twitter spreading so much personal information has made many people really upset. In fact, those over 30 have been really angry about it.

50 friend is the Path max

Path states to draw on scientific research in its decision to set itself apart with a fifty friend limit. In a blog introducing Path, previous Facebook executive Dave Morin wrote that Oxford Professor of Evolutionary Psychology Robin Dunbar said “150 is the maximum number of social relationships the human brain can sustain at any given time.” Personal relationships are what Dunbar suggests are very valuable. He also claims that you will find just 50 people a person can really trust and consider valuable. Thus, Path lets users feel more comfortable about being personal than Facebook or Twitter.

Down the wrong Path?

Om Malik at Gigacom suggests that Path isn't going to work for social networking. The number of friends can be controlled with Facebook already states Malik. He also points out that of the 50 individuals he might care about the most, half of them don’t use iPhones, the smartphone Path is designed exclusively to accommodate. He states that competitors of Path are DailyBooth, Instagr.am and Picplz. All these start-ups have raised a ton of money. But cash can’t purchase you friends.

Eid al-Adha commencing November 16 is among the largest Muslim holidays

Muslim holidays draw a sharp distinction among the cultures of the west and Islam. One of the biggest Muslim holiday seasons, "Eid al-Adha," is a three day affair that begins November 16. Westerners accustomed to the festivities of Christmas would scratch their heads at Eid al-Adha, an occasion in which a ritual called "the stoning of the Devil" is the primary attraction.

Special occasion for Muslims is Eid al-Adha

Dec 7 is the Islamic Brand new Year while Dec 16 is Ashura. The upcoming Eid al-Adha will just be beginning the special occasion season. On Tues millions of Muslim pilgrims descended on the Mina Valley in Saudi Arabia to throw pebbles at a religious monument called the Jamarat Pillars. The act symbolizes the Prophet Abraham’s resistance to the devil when the devil tried to talk him out of killing his only son Ishmael as a demonstration of his obedience to Allah. Supposedly Abraham threw rocks at Satan so that he would go back to Hell and give up on what he wanted.

Pilgrims wish to have stoning of the devil remade

Killing Ishmael is something Abraham's wife Hagar tried to stop him from doing. There is a good chance Ishmael did not like the idea. Three Jamarat Pillars represent the devil. This is all within the ritual for Eid al-Adha. The devil trying to tempt Abraham into disobeying Allah is what the largest represents. The second represents Hagar. It is as the devil tempted her to try to stop him. The 3rd represents the devil tempting poor Ishmael to plead for his life instead of dutifully submitting to being murdered for the satisfaction of Allah.

Deadly Muslim holidays

Muslim holidays have been known to trigger fatal situations. You are able to only get the Jamarat Pillars by passing the Jamarat Bridge. Every year, the Muslim pilgrims all have to cross it. Hundreds of Muslims have been suffocated and crushed during the stoning the devil practice as it’s nearly extremely hard to control. In recent years, Saudi authorities have expanded the Jamarat Bridge to five amounts in an effort to lower the potential for carnage. Large walls replace the Jamarat Pillars now. This was done in a try to get the devil-stoners through with more at a time.

Nearly 20 % of vehicle traffic deaths involve drowsy driving

If one is driving, and feeling especially tired, pulling over somewhere and taking a snooze is a good idea. Drowsy driving is dangerous. We’ve all heard to pull over for a snooze if feeling tired behind the wheel. It’s not just an old wives’ tale. Drowsy driving was involved in almost twenty % of all fatal accidents. And it might be even more prevalent than previously thought.

Drowsy Driving can result in death

There is new info out about Drowsy Driving. The study was done by the American Automobile Association, (aka AAA). 16.5% of fatal accidents involved a rest deprived driver. In 13.1% of accidents that hospitalized someone, there was a sleepy driver behind the wheel. in 7 percent of accidents involving a required towing there was a drowsy driver. Interestingly, men were two thirds of the sleepy drivers. Sleep deprived drivers in accidents were twice as likely to be 16 to 24 years old than drivers 40 to 59 years old. Of all the accidents documents in this study, 57% were from a sleep deprived driver driving off the road altogether or drifting through lanes.

Sleepless in Seattle… well really in all of America

Americans are getting less sleep than ever as outlined by numerous studies. The typical recommendation is that people sleep 8-hours a night and on average most rest 7 or less. New Zealand conducted a study on drowsy driving in 2000. As outlined by CNN the study showed that a sleepy driver was a dangerous as a driver who is drunk. Regardless of that study, drunk driving still causes more fatalities than drowsy driving does drowsy driving still does not cause as numerous traffic fatalities as drunk driving does. That said, it is still a risk to traffic safety a person should not take.

Play it safe

Carpooling can reduce the risk by 50% according to AAA. Driving drowsy isn't worth it, just pull over and rest or get caffeine in case you are tired. Also, get at least 8 hours of rest before any long trip.

Bush protects waterboarding in Selection Points

Waterboarding has received yet one more seal of approval from previous President George W. Bush in his new memoir "Decision Points," reports NPR. The controversial interrogation technique had been used by United States authorities to obtain info from radical Islamist prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison. Matt Lauer sat down with George Bush for an interview, and also the previous president restated what the nation has already heard: that waterboarding had been allowed because administration lawyers said waterboarding is legal. Source for this article – President Bush defends waterboarding in memoir by Personal Money Store.

Using waterboarding to prevent things

After 9-11, Waterboarding became something talked about a lot. U.S. intelligence was sure one more attack would occur. A terrorist attack was being prepared for. President Bush received info from the intelligence. This showed that a future attack was likely. Waterboarding ended up getting the permission from President Bush that it needed. He had to talk to his attorneys about this first though.

‘Why is waterboarding legal?’

Lauer asked Bush why he thought waterboarding had been legal beginning the big waterboarding question. The previous president responded as follows:

"Because the lawyer said it was legal. He said it did not fall within the Anti-Torture Act. I’m not a lawyer, but you gotta trust the judgment of individuals around you. And I do."

But the natural extension of that line of inquiry, writes NPR – the climactic question that The United States still wants answered – went unasked by Lauer. Was waterboarding really a "moral" choice even if it was legal? Waterboarding is something that many countries say is torture. Several wonder if President Bush has a problem with it now considering his "born-again" Christian religion he states to have.

Several ‘Decision points’

Dealing with terrorism and national security requires swift, decisive decisions. Being a world leader requires these decisions to be made even if many individuals will never understand the decisions. Many understand it is legal to waterboard. The morality behind it’s the real concern. This can be compared to slavery. It may not have been moral but it had been surely legal in America. Numerous wonder if it’s moral to have abortion legal also.

Many wonder the exact same things about waterboarding. Unfortunately, the CIA's destruction of Abu Ghraib interrogation readings has met the statute of limitations. There will never be a court case. This is because a prosecution for obstruction of Justice cannot ever happen. Prosecutions over waterboarding may never occur, despite the fact that Obama has banned the practice and stated that it can no longer be ordered by a president.

FL educational facilities locked down - Government buildings also threatened

A danger of a school shooting has locked down Broward County Schools. 260,000 pupils are within the Broward County class district, and at least seventeen schools are under lockdown. The e-mailed threat also mentioned Broward County govt buildings, possibly post offices or libraries.

Lockdown in schools in Broward County, Florida

The Fort Lauderdale suburb of Pembroke Pines is where the first Florida school lockdown started. The lockdown was then expanded to include all 17 schools and 260,000 students in the school district. Nadine Drew, as the school spokesman, said the schools are "operating as normal as possible" since then. Lockdowns mean that moving in or out of school building and even classrooms is prohibited. The plan is for the lockdown to stay until it is safe. Police have to clear the buildings.

Broward County, Florida gets a threat

A woman called a radio station saying her husband had been "going to a school to start a shooting" which is why the schools were shut down. Broward authorities got an email from the station too. "Something big had been going to happen" around government buildings according to the email. There haven't been identities confirmed yet for the man or wife. The threat, nevertheless, is no longer considered serious.

All about school lockdowns

The practice of “locking down” schools is relatively new. Now "lockdown drills" are common. These happen within the U.S. and Canada. Teachers and students are generally not allowed to get out of their classroom in a lockdown. This will restrict people from moving. Everybody can be safe this way. The Broward County school district has about 300 schools and has been holding lockdown drills for the last few years.

QE2-driven commodity cost boosts a taxes on consumers

When the Federal Reserve pumped billions of dollars into the economy with quantitative easing last week, investors rejoiced. But for customers, the Fed’s monetary stimulus is a tax that has brought on the price of oil, groceries and clothing to rise. The Fed’s move to print billions for purchasing bonds boosted stocks, but it is also sending costs increased for oil, corn, sugar, wheat, coffee and cotton. Source for this article – Fed QE2 imposes tax on consumers as it raises commodity prices by Personal Money Store.

The Fed's consumer tax

At the beginning of Sept, commodity prices shot up. Numerous expected that as soon as midterm elections were over, the central financial institution would be stimulating the economy. Individuals who wanted to invest their money had QE2 as good news. People and companies paying for gas and groceries will end up with less cash. Stimulating the economy could be harder with less money. "Stagflation" which is an economic condition where the economy isn't growing as prices rise is what economists suggest will take place. QE2 might backfire a bit if the cost of oil and other things goes up a lot with the Fed printing more cash.

Pay more for fuel with QE2

The most obvious example of the QE2 Fed tax on customers is oil. The Fed announced QE2 last week. Just a day after, over $85 a barrel had been what gas prices rose to. In the last six months, costs have not been this high. This is the case with heating oil, gasoline and crude oil. Oil corporations seem perfectly alright with the change. Of course, consumers feel the pinch more than ever. About 10 percent of income goes to gasoline and utilities with American families. Gas gets $340 billion a year spent on it. This is just from consumers. There has been a 4.8 percent increase within the price of gas. Since Aug. this has happened. One more $51 billion can be staying from the economy as 10 percent is being flooded her which is what the Fed is doing.

QE2 raises prices for garments and groceries

Numerous of the commodity dependent industries have been affected by the QE2 which has made commodity prices go up. After commodity on coffee had been at a new high last week, Kraft Foods and Starbucks had to raise coffee prices, USA Today reports. Prices will go up for Jones Apparel Group and Hanes. This is because cotton prices have gone up. McDonald’s is reported to be raising menu prices in 2011 due to increasing costs for meat and sugar. About $350 a year more on groceries can be spent by an average family each year with an increase in food costs of just five percent.

Wheel of Fortune 1 letter puzzle answer shocks fans

Resolving a "Wheel of Fortune" puzzle with one letter showing is a difficult task. Only blind luck or an inside job could make such an impossible prospect possible. Yet 26-year-old Caitlin Burke was not intimidated by long odds. She hit pay dirt with only one letter showing, solving a 27-letter puzzle for "Phrase" and leaving host Pat Sajak clasping for adjectives. Resource for this article – Wheel of Fortune one letter puzzle solution amazes fans by Personal Money Store.

Amazing ‘Wheel of Fortune’ 1 letter solution

The look on Pat Sajak’s face after Burke pulled the answer to the 27-letter puzzle seemingly out of thin air is priceless. Since the "Wheel of Fortune" game show first hit the airwaves in 1975, it is doubtful that there has been a contestant who beat the odds like Burke. "I've got a good feeling about this" was the answer to the "Wheel of Fortune" puzzle.

All she had to work with was a solitary "L.". She did know one letter was not within the answer though thanks to an additional contestant. "R" could not have been in the answer.

When Caitlin Burke answered like this, numerous started to question the truthfulness of the game. Access Hollywood explains this. However, no meaningful evidence exists to support such states.

Educated guess vs. luck

The "Wheel of Fortune" one letter solution had been something Burke discussed on the Columbia Broadcasting System "Early Show" in an interview. She knew the first word was a contraction that began with one letter, which had to be an "I.". Burke told the "Early Show" that she avoided getting caught up in how many letters were left uncovered. Burke said her guess had been one half educated, 50 percent good luck as she had "years of practice and watching". She won a Caribbean trip. About $6,500 went into this. In total, she won $53,618 in money and prizes during her run as champion.

The reason why didn’t Burke spin for additional cash?

That’s a question numerous individuals within the media are asking, and also the answer according to some sources is that Caitlin Burke was playing it safe. She is certainly good with puzzles. She did hit "Bankrupt" already though which may have encouraged her to quit. She decided guessing after getting the "L" was probably a good idea. Exactly why risk an additional spin?

Drug Enforcement Agency bust of Mexico canal netting thirty tons of pot

The Mexico canal probably will not be confused with a project to promote more convenient border-crossing. Substance smugglers using the Mexico tunnel shipping untold tons of cannabis to San Diego from Tijuana. The Feds came down on the 1,800-foot long Mexico tunnel this week and seized 30 tons of pot.

Mexico tunnel likely dug by drug cartel

The Mexico tunnel linked warehouses in San Diego and Tijuana where drug smugglers stored their stash. The sophistication of the Mexico tunnel and the cost of digging it suggests that the operation is associated with a Mexican drug cartel. A Drug Enforcement Agency investigation started Tuesday when DEA agents noticed a suspicious looking semi-truck leaving a warehouse in an industrial area near the Mexican border. There were 10 tons of marijuana found within the trailer as a Border Patrol checkpoint stopped the truck. DEA agents then raided the warehouse and found another 10 to 15 tons of weed.

$20 million in pot taken

The Mexico tunnel had been found when DEA agents looking inside a closet found a small opening within the floor. A 20 foot underground passageway with a rail running system that had been six football fields long which led to another Mexico warehouse and was lighted and ventilated. Another 4 tons of marijuana were found at the other side and Mexican authorities were alerted. The DEA estimates marijuana it confiscated is worth $20 million on the street.

Still seeing a lot of drug traffic

The Mexico tunnel is one of many discovered since a crackdown on drug smuggling has forced the drug cartels underground. 150 tons of marijuana were seized by Mexican authorities last month. This bust in Tijuana was the largest in Mexican history to be recorded. According to the Christian Science Monitor, the recent seizures of drugs won't stop anything. Illegal drugs will still come to the U.S. from Mexico. Sara Miller of the Monitor wrote the mega-busts were no more than a PR victory for the Mexican government. The Mexican U.S. ambassador wrote a letter to Miller. He had been mad about what she said.

Kik messenger frees text messaging from systems

Every smartphone user are now able to download the re-launched Kik. The program was 1st launched in April 2010. Cellular phone providers can no longer have a stranglehold on texting. Kik plans on expanding their service. Now that they have over 1 million users, they have the user base needed for their plans. Source of article – Kik messenger frees text messaging from networks by Personal Money Store.

How to use Kik messenger

Smartphones are what the Kik messenger is made for. More or less, text messaging is what the Kik is used for when downloaded onto smartphones. The service also expands on traditional text messaging, by offering “personal assistant” auto-replies whenever you cannot immediately respond to messages. Data systems are where the info is sent rather than on SMS networks like normal. The point is that your cellular phone network will acknowledge the message as data. It can't see it as other things from Kik. The Kik can be downloaded on numerous devices. The iPhone, iPod, Android and BlackBerry can all have the application acquired.

What Kik messenger has that is great

Kik messenger has several benefits. First, it provides a way to text message without running up a huge cell-phone bill. Calls and texting are separate from data plans at most cellular phone corporations. You can get an unlimited data plan without having a really great phone plan. With that minimal plan and data access, you can text message and chat to your heart’s content. Broadening to personal profiles and music service are things that Kik messenger is preparing to do.

Connections with community unnecessary with Kik

The cell service may have to change things quite a bit since Kik has shown it is an excellent data network text messaging service. A cell phone with a wifi connection could be fully functional without any community with this and with Google Voice. Data traffic is becoming worse and worse. This is because smartphones have become so popular. the public has begun to get more involved in these issues. The issues of public wifi and high-speed data connections are part of this. So what do you think? Are you thinking of just sticking with only wifi, or are you keeping the Smartphone?

Tweet - KG called me a cancer patient, says Charlie Villanueva

Kevin Garnett is one of those National Basketball Association players who brings additional fire to his game, even verbal fire. He is arguably the current poster child for trash talking in the NBA. However, as ESPN accounts, he might have gone just a bit too far during the Celtics’ recent blowout of the Detroit Pistons. Based on an after-game tweet by Pistons forward Charlie Villanueva, "KG called me a cancer patient," referencing Villanueva’s insufficient hair. The Pistons have confirmed that the tweets came from Villanueva, but have offered no further comment at this time.

Charlie Villanueva is not the only bald player in the NBA

Kevin Garnett shaves his head like many other NBA players, but Charlie Villanueva’s follicle challenged condition is different. The condition of alopecia universalis which ends in hair loss is what Villanueva has. He has no hair on his head, similar to Kevin Garnett. Charlie Villanueva gets mad about cancer references as opposed to Garnett.

"I’m pissed because, u know how lots of people died from cancer, and he’s tossing it like it’s a joke,” the Villanueva tweet post said. “I wouldn’t even trip about that, but a cancer patient; I know way 2 many people who passed from it."

Charlie Villanueva continues

Despite the 23-point drubbing the Celtics handed the Pistons, Charlie Villanueva wasn’t ready to back down from Garnett’s comments. You will find good signs that blows might happen as shown in more Villanueva tweets. There haven't been any comments from the team or league yet although the NBA is sure to intervene along with the Pistons if anything were to happen.

Understanding alopecia universalis

Alopecia universalis (aka alopecia) is a rare autoimmune disorder that involves rapid hair loss, according to Wikipedia. There is a further disease called alopecia areata. Eyebrows and eyelashes are lost at this stage. There is no age where the symptoms of alopecia start showing up. All treatments are unknown at present. Alopecia universalis is something 1 in 100,000 people have. Charlie Villanueva happens to be one of these. Edith Bouvier Beale, Standard Oil magnate John D. Rockefeller and David Ferrie, previous CIA operative who worked with Lee Harvey Oswald in the Civil Air Patrol and worked on the Cuban Missile Crisis, have all had the disease too.

Loan providers of small loans cannot afford to buy elections

Campaign contributions could be made by small loans lenders and payday advance lenders, just like any organization. However, based on some people any campaign contribution is tantamount to bribery. Some think that if an office holder or candidate wants to ban payday loans, they have to are bribed. Loan lenders cannot lobby the way numerous other groups can, and also the individuals making the accusations are often flagrantly hypocritical.

Small loan sector accused of purchasing officials

Trade organizations put a lot of money into politicians in order for making sure they are represented. Small cash loans providers like payday loan and short term loans lenders are able to do this as well. Making campaign contributions is legally something these organizations are allowed to do. Officials are invited to come to conferences that are hosted by them. Many corporations will lobby for incumbents or candidates this way. Yet, many do not approve of it. Seems like like a double standard. For instance, in a recent New Mexico gubernatorial debate, according to the newest Mexico Independent, Democratic candidate Diane Denish practically accused Susana Martinez of being bribed by cash advance lenders because a fundraiser for Martinez had been partially run by a lobbyist employed by the option financial services sector.

Seeing the rules

Just because any one industry makes contributions to a candidate does not mean a whole lot. Who gets to say that one organization is better than one more when it comes to donating? Payday loan and small loan companies don't really have much cash to spare. Purchasing off someone costs lots of cash they don't have. The 2010 election fund, from the whole payday lending organization, ended up having Congressional Representative Heath Shuler of North Carolina getting $57,900. Senator Chris Dodd, by comparison received $152,100 from the Royal Bank of Scotland alone in 2010. Do you want to determine what your representatives are receiving? Go to OpenSecrets.org, and you might be surprised.

Payday lending is small

Small loan lenders are only able for making really small contributions. Of course, high finance and banks are apt to make much larger donations when it comes to lobbies. The biggest contributor to election campaigns, far and away, is unions. Looking at history, unions are hardly squeaky clean by any stretch of the imagination. Contributions that small hardly makes a bribe. Want to know more? Just take a look at facts and statistics of payday financial loans record on Personal Money Store for the info.

Committing to law school a dangerous bet for most ambitious attorneys

Whether or not it's worth going into financial debt for law school is open to question. Law school tuition continues to rise and fewer jobs with good pay are available. In spite of these realities, law schools saw skyrocketing enrollment as the recession wore on and today a legion of freshly minted, hungry lawyers are seeking work.

Law school debt overwhelms lawyer salaries

Between 2007 and 2009, 20 percent more individuals started taking the LSAT. But this year a growing number of law students and law school graduate students are unemployed, underemployed and deeply in student loan debt. An average of $71,436 in financial debt was taken out for public law school students that graduated in 2008, Annie Lowery at Slate reports. It had been about $91,506 for private law graduates. Lowery writes that a starting salary that would make law school a good investment is about $65,000. Most jobs available to law school graduates pay from $45,000 to $60,000.

Return on investment for attorneys good with less

Vanderbilt law professor Herwig Schlunk published a study in 2009 about investing in law school titled “Mamas, Do not Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be … Attorneys.” Lighthearted title aside, Schlunk raises serious questions about whether investing in law school will ever pay off for most students. The record discusses some of the opportunity cost of lost income while going to school. The high student loan debt is discussed also. Schlunk concludes that investing in law school will only pay off for a small minority of “hot prospects.".

Making a decision against law too far gone

A law student at the Boston College Law school has learned Schlunk’s lessons the hard way. Tuition is over $40,000 a year at BC law which is why the student wrote a letter to the dean, AFP accounts. The student, deep in debt, was about to become a father and had little hope of finding a job when he graduates in 2011. He said that it was a win-win situation for BC Law to give him a refund on tuition if he just quit law school instead. He could provide for his family once again teaching. The financial debt wouldn't crush him either. The US News and World Report, which publishes U.S. law school rankings, wouldn't have to have reported to them his future joblessness for BC Law. His offer was not accepted by BC Law.

Foreclosure crisis increases drop of United States of America home ownership

Fewer people claim home ownership now than at any time in the last ten years. The drop is gaining momentum. Severe joblessness, a wave of foreclosures and plummeting home prices are taking their toll. Millions of Americans have lost their homes in the last five years and millions more are expected to within the near future.

home ownership decreasing steadily

There has been a steady decrease in home ownership in the United States of America within the last five year. The United States Census Bureau accounts this. The U.S. has 3 million less households being owned. This has just been since 2005. 66.9 percent owned homes within the third quarter of this year. Since 1999, the rate hasn't been that bad. In the first quarter of 2005, home ownership had been at 69.1 percent which was a peak. Younger homeowners are unwilling to borrow with all the economic uncertainty there is right now. There was a 9 percent decrease since 2005 in those who owned their homes and were under 35. In the 3rd quarter of 2010, it had been at 39.2 percent.

What took place with the housing market

The dropping of homeownership is bad. The California budget ends up doing the same thing. U.S. existing home sales in Sept dropped 19 percent from the year before. A current annual rate of 307,000 existing home sales is where we're at right now. That is lower than ever. Homes are going down in price as the sales continue to go down. The Census Bureau reports that 18.8 million homes are vacant. Housing starts in 2010 are at about a 600,000 a year annual rate, far below what is considered normal. Cable News Network was able to speak with a real estate analyst. This person said that renting and forming new households just is not happening as much right now. There are more roommates for younger individuals while families will double up.

How the foreclosure turmoil was affected by home ownership drops

There ought to be a ton of foreclosures in 2010. In fact the amount is expected to a million. If unemployment stays this high, there can be more homes foreclosed on. In 2011, the rate will be even higher. A Morgan Stanley report said that about 3.1 million mortgage holders are seriously delinquent, and most are expected to lose their homes. Half of the 4 million extra homeowners dropping behind are expected to end un foreclosures soon. About 11 million homes might be foreclosed on at any time.

Obesity trends project one in three diabetic Americans by 2050

At its present rate of increase, diabetes could be a fact of life for a 3rd of the U.S. Population by 2050. An increasing trend toward obesity and an aging populace were cited as the main problems in a Centers for Disease Control report published on Oct. 22. As the cost of treating diabetes is expected to triple, the CDC has launched efforts reduce the number of cases.

Millions don’t know they’re diabetic

Diabetes at the moment affects 1 in 10 Americans — about 23.6 million people, according to the CDC. Diabetes cases should double and maybe triple by 2050 if obesity continues how it has, a CNN article said. Today about 6 million people aren’t even aware they have diabetes. The CDC said 57 million Americans with excess fat around the midsection are pre-diabetic and destined to develop the condition unless their lifestyles change. Type 2 diabetes can be developed in most. This will make it so their bodies no longer are able to produce insulin for them.

Diabetes treatment goes up considerably

Diabetes could be caused by age simply. There is nothing you are able to do about getting older though. Since obesity is the biggest factor that raises risk, anyone can get more exercise and have a healthy diet. Avoiding obesity can do wonders. You’ll save money without it. According to the American Diabetes Association, Americans already spend $174 billion annually to treat diabetes. Before you are 45, it is suggested by the ADA that you get screened for diabetes. Obese people should consider getting tested at an earlier age.

A pound needed to prevent each ounce

There is a plan in motion for the CDC to help people make better lifestyle choices in order to lower diabetes. It has targeted areas where it is hard to discover safe places to exercise and food that is healthy. The prevention will reduce the number of cases of diabetes. Nevertheless, the CDC discovered there would still be an increase in the cases of diabetes. Without prevention, there could be 3.5 million cases. This would be by 2050. 3.1 million people can have diabetes with a net reduction of 344,000 in 2050 if there is prevention.

British government urged to cap payday loaning costs

Based on This is Money U.K, the Consumer Credit Counseling Service and End Legal Loan Sharking have major bones to pick with the payday loaning industry in the U.K. A lower interest rate cap on "doorstep loan providers and payday advance firms" is presently being pursued in proposed legislation. While these loans may be legal, states End Legal Loan Sharking, the rate charged to high-risk customers is far from reasonable.

Payday lending and legal loan sharking aren't the same

The mainstream media and consumer interest groups for instance End Legal Loan Sharking tend to place payday cash advances and loan sharking to the very same boat. That is the exact same mistake politically motivated consumer organizations make in the U.S. Within the U.K., the payday loan industry is governed, says Payday Loan Advances. This is by legislative bodies. The United Kingdom payday advances are all regulated by the British Cheque Casher Association, or BCCA, or the Insolvency Practitioner's Association, or IPA. APR is much more regulated in payday cash advances than in loan sharking.

Having no fees is what the establishment wants

For each £100 ($160) that is borrowed, £82 ($132) could be charged by "loan sharks" says the End Legal Loan Sharking. What This is Money fails to record is that such loans are typically offered at high risk to the payday lending organization. Hence, protection must be built in.

Working with a ’10 Minute Rule’

Wed, British Parliament will review a 10 Minute Rule coming from Labour MP Stella Creasy. This would turn out to be a new rule within the U.K. consumer credit market. It would allow those with bad credit to still borrow. It’s called a Ten Minute Rule because the supporter has 10 minutes for making the case for the bill in question.

"The Government needs to understand action is needed now to address the high cost of lending which exploits some of the poorest individuals in our communities who can least afford the charges door step lenders set," is what Creasy said. The British Media reported this.

The Ten Minute Rule would apply to payday lending. APRs and fees would be capped. It would also empower local authorities to restrict payday advance business licenses and increase consumer access to credit union loans.

Lil Wayne's flight from Rikers can be a recording studio room

Lil Wayne has been itching to record, and he’s paid for it with added solitary at Rikers. However, according to Rolling Stone, Lil Wayne will lay down songs on the plane out of the joint. No, he’ll be tracking on his specially equipped music studio room jet, as the rhymes won’t wait.

The strategy of Lil Wayne to jot down every little thing about jail

Bryan "Birdman" Williams, co-founder of Lil Wayne’s Cash Money tracking label, told Rolling Stone "We’re gonna deal with that microphone, no trip. You cannot keep (Lil Wayne) out of the studio."

Lil Wayne will continue to write music too. In his Rikers Island cell, he did some "furious" work. Wayne hasn't rhymed since Hot Boys, although "Birdman" said he is rhyming once more, reports the Rolling Stone. Those close to Lil Wayne believe the time he spent in solitary confinement in early October after being caught for the second time with "music-related contraband" lit a fire in the MC. There will be a sharper edge to the material that comes from it.

Calling it ‘A different swagger’

Williams explained that "a different swagger" will be who Lil Wayne is in his music soon. In early 2011, "Tha Carter IV," which is Lil Wayne's next LP, will be released. Two weeks ago, Lil Wayne's album "I Am Not a Human Being" had been on the top of all music. Contrary to the recent album title, however, Lil Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant suggested to Rolling Stone that it was Wayne’s very human experience leading up to prison that helped to give him added perspective on life and where he’s headed creatively.

3G service on Mt. Everest allows climbers to surf from the summit

The highest hot spot on Earth is now on Mt. Everest now that 3G service is accessible in Nepal from a Swedish wireless carrier. The chief executive of Ncell, a subsidiary of TeliaSonera, said the highest video call ever was made from the Mount Everest base camp Friday. The introduction of a 3G network in Nepal gives climbers the freedom to connect worldwide from the Everest summit and introduces one of one of the most remote areas of the world to the rest of civilization. Source for this article – 3G service on Mt. Everest allows climbers to surf from the summit by Newsytype.com.

Going to new heights with a 3G base station

The 3G at Mount Everest will benefit climbers a ton. They had to use satellite phones to talk to anybody while up there before. Ncell has set up coverage with a series of eight 3G base stations. The highest is in the village of Gorakshep, near the Mount Everest base camp at 17,000 feet. Everest 3G will mostly be used for emergency communications and real time weather reports. The locals all have to pay to do anything with calling or the web to use satellite phones. Now, Ncell has made a way for locals to surf the web, send e-mails and make calls more easily.

Communicating when on Everest

3,000 people have made the trip to Mt. Everest and climbed it. This has all been since 1953 when Sir Edmund Hilary first climbed the mountain. The nearest telegraph office would get the messages from climbers back then. That’s because runners had to be used to send messages. Carrying the equipment for a satellite phone weighed you down 220 pounds. This was how much it weighed when the climber living in Nepal, Veikka Gustafsson, first came to the Humalayas, reports TeliaSonera. Since 2007, the only coverage at Mount Everest in China had been the partial service from China Mobile.

3G affects Nepal

Telecommunication services is something less than one-third of the people in Nepal have access to. The jagged mountain makes it really difficult to build cellular towers. Also, building land-based networks is practically impossible. Gusaffson said, in reference to the 3G network:

“It’s hard for people in the Western world to even imagine what it means for people living in distant villages in valleys separated by high mountains when they now make their first phone call to relatives or are able to contact a doctor over the phone.”

Right now in Nepal, you will find 3.7 million that work with Ncell, although the 3G service will make that rise. $100 million is being invested into Nepal by TeliaSonera. The goal is that by the end of 2011, 90 percent of people will have mobile coverage.

Ozzy Osbourne has Neanderthals and other weird stuff in his DNA

"The Prince of Darkness, otherwise known as Ozzy Osbourne, has ordered scientists to sequence his genome. Heavy metal howler Ozzy Osbourne decided to have his DNA sequenced and analyzed to solve a mystery. The British heavy metal icon, who became famous as much for his prodigious drug and alcohol abuse also as his music, said having his genome sequenced could offer clues about why he’s still alive. Osborne appeared at TEDMED 2010 in San Diego today to present the findings.

Why had been the genome from Ozzy being sequenced

Ozzy Osbourne’s genome had been sequenced by Mo. bioscience firm Cofactor Genomics and analyzed by Knome, Inc. Osbourne learned he had a disease kind of like Parkinson's which caused him to want to learn about his ancestry, CNN reports Jorge Conde of Knome saying. However, Osbourne had a more characteristic explanation. In an Oct. 24 guest column for the Sun Times, Osbourne said “Given the swimming pools of booze I’ve guzzled over the years — not to mention all of the cocaine, morphine, sleeping pills, cough syrup, LSD, Rohypnol … you name it – there’s really no plausible medical reason why I should still be alive. Possibly my DNA could say why.”

Now we know the Neanderthal is in Ozzy

Osbourne did learn something about his ancestry after sequencing his genome. One of Osbourne's distant ancestors had been a Neanderthal as shown on his 10th chromosome with just a "little segment" as reported by Scientific American. Osbourne is the only person that people aren't amazed has a bit of Neanderthal in him. Years ago, this discovery would are preposterous. 1 to 4 percent of those not from Africa have Neanderthals in their DNA as had been found this year. Osbourne said that he had been "tickled" to know this. Having caveman blood was surprising.

And the winner is… Ozzy!

A gene in Osbourne's DNA makes him different from many people with the protein being developed, which is why he might have survived the years of substance abuse. One more thing that would explain why his body is doing this well would be an unusual variant near one of the alcohol deydrogenase genes which metabolizes alcohol fast. A Knome scientist summed things up unscientifically, saying “He’s a 61-year-old healthy guy, and that speaks for itself. That suggests he’s done OK in the genetic lottery.”

Pending space shuttle launch will be the last for Discovery

The next to previous space shuttle launch is due in days. The next to previous mission on the space shuttle launch schedule could be the liftoff of the space shuttle Discovery on Wed, Nov. 3 from Cape Canaveral. The mission seems almost an ignominious end. The shuttle Discovery will blast into space, and conduct operations with the International Space Station. It can be the previous flight for Discovery. After the mission, the shuttle will likely be mothballed and placed in the Smithsonian to replace the shuttle Enterprise.

The space shuttle launch for Discovery could be its last

MSNBC reports that on Wed, Nov 3, at 3:52 p.m., Discovery will launch its final space shuttle. The space shuttle Discovery and the six astronauts aboard will rendezvous with the International Space Station. It is not the last shuttle mission, however it is the last mission for Discovery, probably the most used shuttle in all of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration fleet. Once this launch is wrapped up, there can be only one more National Aeronautics and Space Administration launch of a space shuttle. The government has not announced a replacement for the shuttle program, however it is presumed to be looking into solutions from the private sector to discover a “space taxi” of sorts to ferry astronauts into orbit.

Now we see the era ends

The end of the space shuttle program was ushered in by the tragedy of the Space Shuttle Columbia. The Columbia had a hard time entering Earth's atmosphere in 2003. This is why the program was canceled by George W. Bush. The meant replacement was the Constellation program, which would reintroduce Apollo-style rockets and capsules, however it was canceled by the Obama administration. There was a reason that program was cut. This was because it was just revisiting the Apollo program and wasn't any kind of new ideas. Then there is the Hundred Year Starship which is in design stage nevertheless.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s next move

Currently, NASA is coordinating with various corporations and contractors to discover suitable transportation. One of the contenders is the Falcon series rockets from Space X, a company founded by Internet entrepreneur Elon Musk.
