You may have surfed the Internet Sunday. If you did, then additionally you probably heard about the rumors of a Facebook phone. Facebook claims it is not true. Apple’s iPhone, Android phones and other Smartphone’s have a good business of rivalry right now. Facebook connecting to that with 500,000 supporting Facebook members with a phone would seem sensible. The Nexus One was only here for a short time period. Google’s domination did not come into play here. Worse things took place for Microsoft with its Kin. Facebook has looked into getting a Facebook phone although it denies building the cell phone. Some think the Facebook cell phone would die off fairly quickly since it would not be needed by many. Numerous think Facebook needs to work on its Facebook apps to make them better before seeking to get its own development platform.
Expecting a Facebook phone
There was one place the Facebook cell phone story started. That place was TechCrunch. Michael Arrington wrote that Facebook is secretly building software for a phone and working with a 3rd party manufacturer, just like Apple does with the iPhone. Arrington said that a rock star developer left the Google Chrome project in June for Facebook and that a Facebook phone operating system was likely what lured him away. He thinks numerous can be interested in an affordable cell phone for Facebook. The phone would allow users to call their friends’ names rather than their phone numbers.
Facebook declines what happened
Facebook getting a cell phone is just one rumor. There have been numerous more hitting the business lately. Facebook said to CNET that it is more interested in integrating with Smartphone’s rather than making their own. Facebook has its ideas leaked a lot though it just changes them after they’ve been leaked, claims CNN. There was never set forth the music service that is supposed to compete with MySpace music that was expected to emerge have gossips in 2008. “Facebook Wallet,” a proprietary e-commerce product to challenge PayPal, never materialized. Facebook made an announcement about that earlier this year. It could be working with EBay’s PayPal to create a new service called Facebook Credits.
Facebook not competing
John C. Abell at Wired thinks there would be no purpose for a Facebook phone. The idea of a Facebook phone is ridiculous. Abell says it is “the tail wagging the dog”. He is fairly sure that nobody would be willing to give up their iPhone or Android just to get a Facebook cell phone. Developing Facebook applications is what Robert Scobe at Business Insider thinks Facebook should do. He mentions deficiencies for instance better support for contacts, photos and video. He also thinks that Facebook needs a better platform before moving on. The only thing that Facebook has that other businesses don’t have are 500,000 users that check in daily.
