Sept 17 to commemorate days for Citizenship and Constitution

Celebrate Constitution Day and Citizenship Day Sept 17

The Constitution of the United States of America is being taught in educational institutions all over the country. This is only because the article signed 223 years ago. Fox News reports that public schools at a range of levels (from elementary education to university) are granted federal funds in order to supplement these academic programs. The law made from the late West Virginia Sen. Robert Byrd has been in effect since 2004 making it so September 17 will always be recognized as “Constitution Day and Citizenship Day”.

Earlier roots of Constitution Day

Those who took the steps to become American citizens were celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of May each and every year as “I Am an American Day” because of President Franklin Roosevelt and Congress in 1940. In 1952, Congress made some more changes. The day would now be called “Citizenship Day” and would be celebrated on September 17. By the time Byrd’s law passed in 2004, federal agencies were obligated to instruct employees regarding the nature of the Constitution and educational facilities that receive federal funds were obligated to provide Constitution-based education to students on September. 17.

Constitution being celebrated

University and federal locaters have numerous seminars all over the country. Americans will get to enjoy speeches, panel discussions, presentations and films on Constitution Day. Not only that, however they can also throw parties. “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart is publicizing his rally – which really does not occur until October – however its focus on reason seems appropriate on Constitution Day. Expect 9/11 to be brought up frequently.

President Obama and Constitution Week

For the second time in his presidency, Barack Obama has kicked off Constitution Week (Sept. 17 via Sept. 23) with a call to recognize the rights we hold as citizens. ”I encourage federal, state, and local officials, also as leaders of civic, social, and academic organizations, to conduct ceremonies and programs that recognize our Constitution and reaffirm our rights and obligations as citizens of this great Nation,” is what President Obama said through the conference.
