Bavarian Motor Works has put into motion a 350,000-vehicle recall of recent BMW and Rolls-Royce cars because of faulty power brake assist that can make it difficult for a driver to bring their car to the stop. Of those autos included within the BMW recall, 345,000 can be Bavarian Motor Works and 5,800 will be Rolls-Royce. All cars in question are of the 8- to 12-cyllinder engine variety. The BMW 5-Series sedan will not be part of the Bavarian Motor Works recall, based on company spokesman Frank Strebe.
Issue causing Bavarian Motor Works recall is the power brake product
In order to stop in some of the Bavarian Motor Works and Rolls-Royce vehicles that have higher mileage, numerous have to press harder on the brake than is expected, accounts Bloomberg. There is no vacuum pressure in the brake pump which makes this happen. This happens because the brake assist module has a leak in it.
While no accidents or injuries have been connected to the power brake problem yet, BMW is encouraging customers to take proactive steps to remedy the issue. Letters are likely to be sent to all owners within the next few weeks. This is how BMW will notify them. Strebe states that repairs will take a few hours at the really least although owners can get free repairs at the dealerships.
