Nissan Motors to create brand new Smart car for United States of America market segments

In order to boost sales, Nissan is building a new SmartCar model for sale within the United States. SmartCar has been struggling to sell more of the mini-cars built for city driving. The new model will address frequent consumer complaints. The business had setbacks in that it didn’t offer models with seating for more than two. Smart decided to team with Nissan Motors to produce a five door hatchback. Auto buyers are becoming more economy minded, and also the brand new Smart car will be available starting in 2011.

SmartCar from Nissan

Years ago there was a subcompact auto that originated from SmartCar. USA Today reports the Intelligent ForTwo became popular when gas prices were about $4 a gallon. The brand sold more than 24,000 automobiles its first year in the States. Sales ended up going down a bit when economic conditions got really bad. That made it hard for cars to sell. Now they’re harder than ever to get sold. In order to appeal to more customers, the business will partner with Nissan Motors to produce a five-door hatchback. A subsidiary of Penske Automotive Group is the business that makes SmartUSA. Daimler manufactures the vehicles sold within the U.S..

Right is the customer

Sales were lagging for a while. This was mostly because of the truth that more seating was wanted by consumers. Nissan will build the brand new subcompact using the V platform. It will be the basis for three different vehicles made in North American plants, according to Automotive News. The Versa is the smallest vehicle that Nissan makes right now. The new platform will be smaller than that and can be what the Versa switches to. The Smart car model coming out can be the smallest Nissan auto. It will be smaller than the Versa.

Building a pretty good move right here

Part of the appeal of the Smart ForTwo is that the automobile is very economical. It doesn’t cost much to put gas in. It also is quite cheap to buy upfront. People like subcompacts and compacts more now. They’re selling better. The Ford Fiesta is a best seller right now. Cars like that are all making the list. More companies should be looking to the sector as it is selling well.
