Sister Wives and Kody Brown under investigation for bigamy

Having 27 wives was a grand gesture on the part of Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, however when reality set in, he came to understand the meaning of “much too much”. Later he switched to a 12-woman rotation, however the need for money was still tremendous. Polygamy on such a scale is difficult to maintain, even for those with champagne wishes and caviar dreams. In The United States, such a practice is also outside the bounds of the law, as paternoster Kody Brown of the new TLC program “Sister Wives” has discovered. Mr. salesman has four wives – Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn – all of whom may share bigamy charges with Brown, based on CBS News.

’Sister Wives’ do not see the large deal

TLC attempted its due diligence before shooting. They asked the Utah Attorney General if the concept for “Sister Wives” would fly. The network wanted to be sure the program wouldn’t run afoul of the law. Scott Troxel of the AG’s office told TLC that when bigamy is technically a third-degree felony in Utah, it isn’t something that would draw a SWAT team. Police manpower and their need for cash now makes examination an iffy process, unless child abuse or trafficking are involved. Radar Online speculates that “Sister Wives” is under investigation because it is a victim of its own fame.

Despite the damaging publicity, Kody Brown and his 4 spouses see nothing wrong with bigamy.

”If we raise productive, contributing members of society who are moral and ethical, that’s our final goal, whichever their path is,” said Janelle Brown, 40, wife and mother to six of the Brown brood. There are also three stepchildren within the family.

‘Sister Wives’ opened Monday, Sept. 27 on TLC

Dubbed a “docu-series,” “Sister Wives” premiered Monday with an hour-long special. In the first episode, Kody Brown announced plans to take on one more wife, Robyn, and her three kids, says People. Six more episodes are currently set to air, unless Utah police force has something to say over it.

”Right now, it’s not in our hands, but we’re not closing the door,” stated Troxel concerning the questionable series “Sister Wives”.
